Title: Chaos Dweller
Gender: Male
Location: New London, Connecticut ![]()
About Me:
I'm in upstateish (Hudson Valley) New York right now, but I will almost certainly be moving back to Connecticut soon.
I'm an audio engineer, computer-nerd, mental-space exploring kind of all-around strangely creativeish type. I'm passionate about the things I am interested in, and I'm interested in a lot! I can be somewhat inwardly focussed (introspective?), but I love spending time with my friends, and I love engaging in stimulating conversation with them.
Learning new things is intensely important to me, and I enjoy arguing/discussing/debating. I derive an intense amount of pleasure from things I find intellectually challenging, but I also thouroughly enjoy the sensory and visceral. Summiting a mountain feels amazing, as does trying to visualize the (at least) 4th dimentional topology of the universe. Mmm… pressing against human intellectual limitations… So, I'm certainly a transhumanist.
What I'm doing with my life:
I'm still learning- constantly.
I write music, I do some photography, I do some (non-music) writing, I've got too much of an attatchment to material posessions. Professionally, I'm an audio engineer, and I do a limited amount of voice-over work as well. I hope to develop my skills as a musician. As it stands, I'll still spend hours in front of my modular synthesizer and various other electronic instruments making noises that probably will freak out the squares, if not make me a fortune as a rock star.
I'm also preparing, of course, for the technological singularity, though I'm not certain we're even remotely close in our predictions of its time of arrival or nature, but that's kinda the idea. Still great fun to think about.
I'm really good at:
I'm very good at just about anything technical. I can figure out how to operate any piece of software, and if I'm given a few minutes with any device, electronic or mechanical, I can figure out how to operate it, and usually how it works, and I can fix it if it's broken.
I'm also a very good listener, and I'm pretty good at offering advice when it comes to problems people are having. I have some problem-laden friends, so I've got a lot of experience there, heh.
I pay a lot of attention to details, *sometimes* missing the big picture because of this- but I'm working on it.
I'm mediocre at playing and very good programming various kinds of synthesizers. So, I'm good with sound, but I'm not a very good keyboardist.

Note that I list Terence McKenna- I always take him with a grain of salt.
